In this 30-minute session we will be focused on YOUR current Demo Reel -- the exact one that you are using to today to book your next event. And if you do not yet have a complete Demo Reel assembled, that's OK! We can utilize any recent event footage that you have, or may be considering for use in your first Reel.
As we review your footage, we will get technical in discussing your performance, selecting clips, and covering assembly / editing.
Utilizing your Reel / Footage, we will focus on both WHY and HOW most Demo Reels are getting announcers bounced out in the initial stages of consideration for an event. You'll learn how to avoid the single most fatal mistake that will get your Demo Reel bypassed within the first 15 seconds it's played. We'll focus on the fundamental criteria that must guide any announcer as they create (and continually update) their Demo Reel.

Yes, there are indeed fundamental rules that should guide the editing and assembly of every single reel. Let's FIRST cover attention span and viewer expectations! We can then move on to individual clip lengths, structure and order, the right way to open and close a reel, and the right way to keep your demo clean and professional. Let's also ensure that we touch on recommendations between editing demo reels yourself vs paying for the work to done by others.
We can talk through the incredible challenge of getting ANY footage whatsoever of your live announcing for use on your Demo. For those that are early in their career and announcing smaller shows, this can seem essentially impossible. Let's discuss the best practices and effective strategies to ensure that you're getting quality clips and footage for use on your next Demo Reel.
We advised providing your Demo Reel file, or a link to the file (on YouTube, website, etc.) no less than 24 hours prior to your session. Michael will review your Reel in advance of your session start time.
Footage can consist of up to 5 individual clips. Clips should have a total combined maximum running time of no more than 7-10 minutes to allow for ample discussion and training time during the session. To provide your footage: 1) Provide links to your footage that you currently have posted on online, 2) Provide links to download your footage, 3) Email clips that are 10mb or smaller.

All LIVE VIDEO sessions are 1-on-1, and conducted online from the "Virtual Studio” here at Live Event Announcing. Your face-to-face sessions will always be in-depth, interactive, and highly personalized.
